Lightning Link launched in 2014 and defined the Hold-and-Spin pokie format that now dominates modern slot design globally. Every major provider has copied the Hold-and-Spin mechanic. The original Aristocrat Lightning Link series remains a top-3 player choice in NZ pubs and online casinos.
Hold-and-Spin is the signature feature that made Lightning Link genre-defining. Trigger 6 orbs and you're guaranteed at least the Mini jackpot. The Grand jackpot's chance keeps players engaged across all six themed variants.

Not usually in its original pub form — Aristocrat generally does not license Lightning Link to the offshore casinos that serve NZ players. You can play similar hold-and-spin jackpot pokies at our top-ranked casinos such as Spinjo and Rooster.bet, which carry 4,000-5,000+ game libraries from providers like Pragmatic Play and Play'n GO, or find the official Lightning Link on Aristocrat's social-casino apps.
Lightning Link has an RTP of 96.00% on the standard Aristocrat online version. Some casinos may run alternate RTP configurations — always check the in-game info screen to verify the RTP at your chosen casino.
Lightning Link is classified as medium-high volatility. Lightning Link is a series of pokies (Sahara Gold, High Stakes, Magic Pearl, Tiki Fire, Bengal Treasures, Best Bet, etc.) sharing the iconic Hold-and-Spin bonus mechanic. Hit 6+ orb symbols to trigger Hold-and-Spin with progressive multi-tier jackpots (Mini, Minor, Major, Grand).
No — recreational gambling winnings on online pokies are not assessable income for NZ tax residents under IRD windfall-gains treatment. This applies whether you play Lightning Link at TAB NZ, SkyCity Online, or offshore-licensed casinos.
